Picture this.........
Its the 2006 Bath Cricket Festival and Somerset are hosts to Surrey. Albert Franklin (senior) is having lunch with the players as part of the corporate hospitality. Mark Ramprakash is on his way to an unbeaten 87 as Somerset dismiss Surrey for just 266 chasing a first innings of 342.
During Lunch Albert is heard to say "Ramprakash, now that's the bugger they need to get out quickly........"
After the interval Albert Franklin is getting ready to leave and is saying his farewells. He turns his back to leave just as Ramprakash smashes a six, over the boundary, past five or six onlookers, straight onto the shin of.....yes Franko Senior.
So pure fluke or was Ramps listening? I wonder?
Anway the real point is how come someone who has played cricket for around 40 years, NOT take a straightforward catch on the boundary??? He will never live it down (even when the bruising subsides!!). One for the "Dropped Catches" Table perhaps?
